Why using an expert SEO copywriter will help your website rank higher in Google searches
Getting good organic rankings on Google used to be easy. A keyword here, a meta there, a new blog every now and again, and Bob’s your uncle.
Not any more.
Neither are good rankings about the number of “hits” you get (that’s so 2018). Google is looking for websites that get traffic, yes. But traffic that stays. Where site visitors spend time exploring the content and navigating their way around, clicking buttons, watching a few videos, and downloading a few guides while they’re about it.
Behaviour like that tells Google that this website has something to offer and provides a quality user experience.
Since Google’s Panda, Penguin and Page Experience algorithm updates, getting your website to the top of page rankings is now based primarily on quality content.
Google’s own Webmaster Guidelines lists “Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content” at the top of their recommended activities to help them understand your web pages.
So if your website hasn’t been keeping pace with those Google updates, you may have seen your website traffic fall off a cliff lately.
If that’s the case, then it’s time to hire an SEO copywriter. Why?
What does an SEO copywriter do?
An SEO copywriter will help your online content rank higher by driving qualified traffic to your website. Not just any old traffic, but traffic that is more likely to convert into paying customers.
- We know how search engines work,
- We know the difference having the right keywords in the right places will make, and
- We know how to craft the kind of content that your ideal customers will love – and Google will find.
More traffic volume is not necessarily better, because what would you rather have? A thousand hits a day and one converted client? Or 100 hits a day and 10 converted clients? That’s the kind of difference well-optimised website copy can make.
Long story short: Unprofessional copy can actively harm your brand. Non-optimised unprofessional copy compounds the problem and will make you invisible to the very customers you’re hoping to attract.
But, you might say, most people can write, can’t they?
Consistent and compelling content
Yes everyone can write. Just as everyone can mess around on Photoshop or Paint. That doesn’t mean the results will stand up to the kind of scrutiny your customers will give it, their high expectations, and how they’ll react when they compare you to your – more professional – competitors.
Most people can write something informative about their business, but not everyone can do it well.
A professional copywriter’s job is to write consistently persuasive, vivid and stimulating copy that connects with the people you want as your customers. Effective writing gets noticed, it gets engaged with and – crucially – it gets the reader to do what you want them to do.
Outsourcing to an expert is always a wise business decision. For example, after fumbling around over countless wasted hours on various platforms trying to build our own website, we eventually outsourced everything to the skills and experience of a professional web designer. The resulting relief we felt was immense – as was the time saved and the quality of the final product.
Of course, you can search online for advice: copywriting guides, handbooks and templates are easy to find and can be useful – if you have the time to read, absorb, practise, and act on their advice. But in reality, how likely is that that you’ll be able to replicate the skills and experience of a professional copywriter?
A copywriting pro will undoubtedly add value to your business by appealing directly to your perfect client.
A professional SEO copywriter will also ensure your business gets in front of that perfect client in the first place.
Can you do all that and run your business too?
