Where to Find Free Photos for Your Blog

Helen Say

blogging for business

When talking to clients about hiring my copywriting services, I will usually emphasise the importance of having a blog to promote their business.

Every business owner should be blogging on a regular basis, at least weekly. A blog is perfect for SEO, a shortcut to creating fresh online content, a sure-fire method of driving traffic to your website, as well as being a great place to talk about your business, your interests, your passions and the things you care about the most.

Most people understand this, and I'm happy to support them in whatever way I can. But the question I get asked a lot is about using photos. Whether to always use them with a blog, where to get them from, how much to pay, etc.

Blogs with images get a much higher hit rate then those without, so my answer to the first question is always a resounding YES. When planning your blog content, pay as much attention to the photos as the text.

And there are dozens of resources for finding no-cost, rights-free photos, most with no attribution required either. I've personally bookmarked more than 20 free resources that I peruse on a regular basis when composing my website content. You can even subscribe to some of them and get a sent weekly image pack of their newest or most popular photos. These frequently give me a great ideas for blog content or social media posts.

ProBlogger have recently done all the leg work for us by curating no less than 27 different free imaging resources and giving me an impressive go-to list.
